  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; establishing a grant program for 
  1.3             nursing facility technology rooms; appropriating 
  1.4             money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             256B.431, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 256B.431, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 31.  [TECHNOLOGY ROOM RATE INCREASE.] Within the 
  1.10  limits of appropriations made specifically for this purpose, the 
  1.11  commissioner shall approve rate increases of up to $25,000 to 
  1.12  nursing facilities to configure and equip technology rooms that 
  1.13  accommodate computers with access to the Internet, printers, and 
  1.14  related electronic equipment.  For the rate year beginning July 
  1.15  1, 2001, or July 1, 2002, the property-related payment rate for 
  1.16  a facility reimbursed under this section or section 256B.434 and 
  1.17  approved for a rate increase for a technology room shall be 
  1.18  adjusted to reflect the amount of the rate increase. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.20     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.21  commissioner of human services for the biennium beginning July 
  1.22  1, 2001, for the purposes of section 1.
