A bill for an act
relating to relating to unemployment insurance; extending unemployment insurance
benefits to certain school employees.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 268.085, subdivision 7, an applicant
who establishes an unemployment insurance benefit account between March 16, 2020, and
December 31, 2020, may use wage credits from employment with an educational institution
or institutions and is eligible for unemployment benefits in the period between academic
years or terms, provided an applicant was most recently in a position for which no license
is required by the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board or the Board of
School Administrators.

(b) This section expires December 31, 2020.

This section is effective the day following final enactment and
applies retroactively from March 16, 2020.
