  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for additional school 
  1.3             day revenue; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 
  1.4             124A.22, by adding a subdivision; Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             1997 Supplement, section 124A.22, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section 
  1.8   124A.22, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [GENERAL EDUCATION REVENUE.] (a) For fiscal 
  1.10  years 1997 and 1998, the general education revenue for each 
  1.11  district equals the sum of the district's basic revenue, 
  1.12  compensatory education revenue, secondary sparsity revenue, 
  1.13  elementary sparsity revenue, transportation sparsity revenue, 
  1.14  total operating capital revenue, transition revenue, and 
  1.15  supplemental revenue. 
  1.16     (b) For fiscal year 1999 and thereafter, the general 
  1.17  education revenue for each district equals the sum of the 
  1.18  district's basic revenue, basic skills revenue, training and 
  1.19  experience revenue, secondary sparsity revenue, elementary 
  1.20  sparsity revenue, transportation sparsity revenue, total 
  1.21  operating capital revenue, additional student day revenue, 
  1.22  transition revenue, and supplemental revenue. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 124A.22, is 
  1.24  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.25     Subd. 14.  [ADDITIONAL SCHOOL DAY REVENUE.] A school 
  2.1   district that adds additional teacher contract days over the 
  2.2   number of contract days in its school calendar for the 1996-1997 
  2.3   school year is eligible for additional revenue equal to $28 per 
  2.4   actual pupil unit per day for up to three days for fiscal years 
  2.5   1999 and later. 
  2.6      Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.7      Sections 1 and 2 are effective for fiscal year 1999.
