1.2memorializing Congress to enact the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP)
1.3increase extension.
1.4WHEREAS, the federal Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010 (H.R. 2847) passed the House of
1.5Representatives on December 16, 2009; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Act contains an extension of the FMAP increase through June 30, 2011;
1.7and
1.8WHEREAS, Minnesota could avoid an estimated $381 million in painful budget cuts at the
1.9state level with enactment of this extension; NOW, THEREFORE,
1.10BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota that it urges the President
1.11and the Congress of the United States to speedily enact the FMAP increase extension in the
1.12Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010 (H.R. 2847).
1.13BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State of the State of Minnesota is
1.14directed to prepare copies of this memorial and transmit them to the President of the United States,
1.15the President and the Secretary of the United States Senate, the Speaker and the Clerk of the United
1.16States House of Representatives, and Minnesota's Senators and Representatives in Congress.
