relating to state government; providing for designation of Minnesota's Living
Treasures; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 4.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Each year the Minnesota Humanities Center shall select up to five Minnesotans
to be named as Minnesota's Living Treasures. People shall be selected based on their
lifetime of contributions to the state of Minnesota in the fields of the arts, the useful crafts,
philanthropy, education, public service, and civic or business leadership. The Humanities
Center may solicit donations to pay for the cost of appropriate ceremonies to honor the
persons selected as Living Treasures.
