  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to metropolitan area watershed districts; 
  1.3             limiting their authority; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.4             1994, section 103B.205, subdivision 13; repealing 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 103B.251, subdivision 
  1.6             9. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 103B.205, 
  1.9   subdivision 13, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 13.  [WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION.] "Watershed 
  1.11  management organization" or "organization" means a watershed 
  1.12  district wholly within the metropolitan area or a joint powers 
  1.13  entity established wholly or partly within the metropolitan area 
  1.14  by special law or by agreement that performs some or all of the 
  1.15  functions of a watershed district for a watershed and that has 
  1.16  the characteristics and the authority specified under section 
  1.17  103B.211.  Lake improvement or conservation districts are not 
  1.18  watershed management organizations.  
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.20     Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 103B.251, subdivision 9, 
  1.21  is repealed.
