  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; requiring labeling of 
  1.3             unpasteurized fruit juice and cider; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 31. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [31.97] [LABELING OF UNPASTEURIZED FRUIT JUICE 
  1.7   AND CIDER.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [POLICY.] In order to protect the public 
  1.9   health from illness due to the consumption of unpasteurized 
  1.10  fruit juice and cider, this section is mandatory for all 
  1.11  wholesale and retail manufacturers or processors of 
  1.12  unpasteurized fruit juice or cider. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [LABELING.] (a) The term "unpasteurized" must be 
  1.14  conspicuously displayed as part of the label on each container 
  1.15  of unpasteurized fruit juice or cider in letters not less than 
  1.16  one-eighth inch in height. 
  1.17     (b) The term "unpasteurized" must be conspicuously 
  1.18  displayed on each bulk juice dispenser that is used to dispense 
  1.19  unpasteurized fruit juice or cider. 
  1.20     (c) A container or bulk dispenser of fresh unpasteurized 
  1.21  fruit juice or cider must be labeled to include the term "Keep 
  1.22  Refrigerated" and must be kept at a temperature of 40 degrees 
  1.23  Fahrenheit or lower during all stages of storage, 
  1.24  transportation, and display. 
  1.25     Subd. 3.  [RULES.] The commissioner may adopt rules 
  2.1   relating to the labeling, processing, storage, transportation, 
  2.2   display, and sale of unpasteurized fruit juice and cider.
