  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; modifying medical 
  1.3             assistance coverage of circumcision for newborns; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 256B.0625, 
  1.5             by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 256B.0625, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3c.  [CIRCUMCISION FOR NEWBORNS.] Newborn 
  1.10  circumcision is not covered, unless the procedure is medically 
  1.11  necessary. 
  1.12     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2002, 
  1.13  and applies to services provided on or after that date.
