relating to education; creating a 21st century skills development pilot project;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin A 21st century skills development pilot project is
established to assist youth in developing skills such as critical thinking, innovation,
problem solving, collaboration, and socialization. Entities which receive funding shall
be after-school and summer providers that use project-based learning, internships or
apprenticeships, service learning, community engagement, or other approaches to foster
such skills. Interested providers may apply to the commissioner of education in a manner
and form of the commissioner's choosing. In awarding grants, the commissioner shall give
extra consideration to community-based partnerships of after-school providers, especially
those that partner with other types of entities.
