A bill for an act
relating to economic development; providing assistance
to American Indians to become entrepreneurs;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2006 and $500,000 in fiscal year
2007 are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for grants to the
Minnesota Opportunities Industrialization Centers State
Council. The grant shall be used by the American Indian
Opportunities Industrialization Centers of Minneapolis, and the
Northwestern Opportunities Industrialization Centers of Bemidji,
to provide training to American Indians to become small
businesspersons. The opportunities industrialization centers
may contract with any accredited state or private educational
institution to deliver training. This appropriation is in
addition to the base level funding and shall become part of the
agency's budget base.
