  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to appropriations; providing for payment of a 
  1.3             judgment against the state and the payment of state 
  1.4             bonds; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION TO PAY CAMBRIDGE BANK 
  1.7   SETTLEMENT.] 
  1.8      The amount needed to pay any remaining claimants in the 
  1.9   judgment rendered against the state by the Minnesota supreme 
  1.10  court in Cambridge State Bank et al. v. James, 514 N. W. 2d 565, 
  1.11  on April 1, 1994, and interest accrued thereon, is appropriated 
  1.12  to the commissioner of revenue.  The commissioner must use this 
  1.13  appropriation to pay the claims. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION TO PAY JUDGMENT BONDS.] 
  1.15     The amount needed to pay, redeem, or defease any bonds 
  1.16  issued under Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.67, is appropriated 
  1.17  to the commissioner of finance.  The commissioner must pay, 
  1.18  redeem, or defease the bonds issued under that section as soon 
  1.19  as possible. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.22  enactment.
