  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for the issuance of 
  1.3             certain parent educator licenses. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PARENT EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR LICENSE.] 
  1.6      (a) Notwithstanding any law or rule to the contrary, 
  1.7   persons who currently hold or have held a parent education 
  1.8   instructor license issued by the board of technical colleges or 
  1.9   the board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and 
  1.10  universities prior to June 30, 1997, shall, upon application, be 
  1.11  issued a family education/parent educator license granted by the 
  1.12  Minnesota board of teaching upon evidence of having met the 
  1.13  renewal requirements listed on the expiring license. 
  1.14     (b) Effective June 30, 1997, the board of trustees of the 
  1.15  Minnesota state colleges and universities shall not issue parent 
  1.16  education instructor licenses. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.18     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1996.
