  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to elected public officials; providing that a 
  1.3             vote from anywhere but the officials' meeting place 
  1.4             does not count; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 351. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [351.25] [VOTE FROM OUTSIDE MEETING PLACE DOES 
  1.8   NOT COUNT.] 
  1.9      (a) A vote by an elected public official does not count in 
  1.10  the circumstances and for the purposes set out in this section. 
  1.11     (b) The vote must be cast by a state or local public 
  1.12  official elected in Minnesota. 
  1.13     (c) The official in casting the vote must be acting as a 
  1.14  member, and during a meeting, of a Minnesota state or local 
  1.15  public body. 
  1.16     (d) The vote must be cast from a place other than (1) the 
  1.17  single gathering place of the greatest number of the members of 
  1.18  the public body, or if none, (2) the place where the meeting's 
  1.19  presiding officer is. 
  1.20     (e) The official's vote must not be counted toward a quorum 
  1.21  for the meeting or for or against any proposition voted on at 
  1.22  the meeting by the public body. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [REVISOR'S INSTRUCTION.] 
  1.24     In the next edition of Minnesota Statutes, the revisor 
  1.25  shall rename chapter 351 to account for the addition of section 
  2.1   1.
