  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; specifying duty of 
  1.3             care of bus drivers to passengers; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 169. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [169.2212] [DUTY OF CARE OF BUS DRIVERS.] 
  1.7      The duty of care owed by a driver of a public transit bus 
  1.8   to a passenger on that bus, including a passenger who is an 
  1.9   elementary or secondary pupil, applies only when the passenger 
  1.10  is on the bus or boarding or disembarking.  At all other times 
  1.11  the passenger is a pedestrian, and the bus driver's duty is 
  1.12  limited to the duty of care owed by the operator of a motor 
  1.13  vehicle to a pedestrian.  For purposes of this section "public 
  1.14  transit" has the meaning given it in section 174.22, subdivision 
  1.15  7.
