  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; allowing any school district to 
  1.3             alter its organization into separate election 
  1.4             districts; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 
  1.5             205A.12, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 205A.12, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [GENERAL PROVISIONS.] Any independent 
  1.10  school district may alter its organization into separate 
  1.11  election districts for the purpose of election of board members 
  1.12  by following the procedures in this section. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
