  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to civil actions; requiring plaintiffs to 
  1.3             provide security to pay judgments against them; 
  1.4             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.5             chapter 549. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [549.175] [SECURITY FOR JUDGMENT AWARDS AGAINST 
  1.8   PLAINTIFFS.] 
  1.9      In any action begun in district court by a plaintiff, the 
  1.10  plaintiff shall file a bond to the court administrator, before 
  1.11  the service of summons, in a sum equal to ten percent of the 
  1.12  amount stated in the claim for relief, not exceeding $5,000.  
  1.13  The bond must be conditioned for the payment of all judgments 
  1.14  awarded against the plaintiff.
