  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public safety; appropriating money to 
  1.3             establish a shared information management system for 
  1.4             police agencies. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC SAFETY.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated for the fiscal biennium ending 
  1.8   June 30, 2001, from the general fund to the commissioner of 
  1.9   public safety for a grant to the Multijurisdictional Records 
  1.10  Management Consortium, a consortium of police agencies in 
  1.11  southern Minnesota counties.  This appropriation is for the cost 
  1.12  of establishing a comprehensive shared information management 
  1.13  system capable of computer-aided dispatch; records management 
  1.14  that is year 2000 compliant; enhanced in-vehicle computing; jail 
  1.15  management; disaster response and recovery for communications 
  1.16  centers; information sharing on persons and incidents; photo 
  1.17  imaging; and interconnection with statewide criminal justice 
  1.18  information and reporting systems.
