  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; providing for grants to continue a 
  1.3             brain injury pilot project; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [GRANTS TO PROVIDE BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [GRANTS.] Within the limits of the 
  1.7   appropriations made specifically for this purpose, the 
  1.8   commissioner of health shall make grants of up to $300,000 to 
  1.9   nonprofit corporations to continue a pilot project that provides 
  1.10  information, connects to community resources, and provides 
  1.11  support and problem solving on an ongoing basis to individuals 
  1.12  with traumatic brain injuries.  
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [REPORT.] The commissioner shall prepare a report 
  1.14  identifying the results of the pilot project and making 
  1.15  recommendations on continuation of the project.  The report must 
  1.16  be forwarded to the legislature no later than January 15, 2004. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.18     $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.19  commissioner of health for the purpose of section 1, to be 
  1.20  available until June 30, 2003.
