  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the environment; providing that local 
  1.3             units of government may adopt ordinances relating to 
  1.4             underground storage tanks that are more stringent than 
  1.5             those of the state; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.6             section 116.50. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 116.50, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     116.50 [PREEMPTION.] 
  1.11     Sections 116.46 to 116.49 116.492 preempt conflicting local 
  1.12  and municipal rules or ordinances requiring notification or 
  1.13  establishing environmental protection requirements for 
  1.14  underground storage tanks unless the rules or ordinances are 
  1.15  more stringent than those of the state.
