  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Sand Dunes state forest; directing 
  1.3             establishment of a shooting area; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [89.021] [Subd. 45.] [SHOOTING AREA WITHIN SAND 
  1.6   DUNES STATE FOREST.] The commissioner of natural resources shall 
  1.7   design and establish a noncompetitive recreational shooting area 
  1.8   within Sand Dunes state forest.  The area shall be suitable for 
  1.9   sighting in legal handguns, rifles, and shotguns. 
  1.10     Target, skeet, trap, or indiscriminate shooting is 
  1.11  prohibited on state lands in the Sand Dunes State Forest, except 
  1.12  in the area developed as a shooting area.  Discharge of firearms 
  1.13  for the purpose of lawful hunting is permitted during the open 
  1.14  seasons for taking of wild animals unless restricted by rule. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.16     $25,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.17  commissioner of natural resources for purposes of section 1.
