A bill for an act
 relating to arts and cultural heritage; appropriating money for a community
theater grant program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; COMMUNITY THEATER GRANTS.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2014 and $....... in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated from the arts
and cultural heritage fund to the Board of the Arts for a grant program to provide funding
to create, maintain, and promote opportunities for students and adults to participate in
community theater. The Board of the Arts shall administer the grant program in the form
and manner specified by the board. The board must give preference to theater programs
giving after-school opportunities to students in schools in which student achievement
levels do not meet state and local expectations under Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.35,
subdivision 2, paragraph (a).
