  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the office of administrative hearings; 
  1.3             providing the assessment to agencies of hearing costs 
  1.4             not covered by general fund appropriations to the 
  1.5             office; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.6             14.53. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 14.53, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     14.53 [COSTS ASSESSED.] 
  1.11     In consultation with the commissioner of administration 
  1.12  finance the chief administrative law judge shall assess agencies 
  1.13  the cost of services rendered to them in the conduct of hearings 
  1.14  to the extent that the cost of services is not provided to the 
  1.15  office of administrative hearings from the general fund.  All 
  1.16  agencies Unless the cost of services for an agency is provided 
  1.17  to the office of administrative hearings from the general fund, 
  1.18  that agency shall include and specifically itemize in their 
  1.19  budgets its budget provisions for such the assessments. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2001.
