  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for a report on child 
  1.3             assessment and case management procedures used by the 
  1.4             education and human services systems. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [REPORT; COMMON DEFINITIONS.] 
  1.7      The department of education and the department of human 
  1.8   services must analyze the current programs, definitions, 
  1.9   assessment procedures, diagnostic practices, and case management 
  1.10  procedures used by the education and human services systems to 
  1.11  provide services for children.  These agencies must report to 
  1.12  the legislature by January 15, 1996, on recommendations that 
  1.13  will allow children to receive services from both systems under 
  1.14  a common set of definitions, procedure, and practices and on 
  1.15  ways to eliminate any duplication of services and programs.  The 
  1.16  report must include any necessary changes in Minnesota Statutes 
  1.17  and Minnesota Rules to implement the recommendations.
