  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; authorizing projects which 
  1.3             provide residential services in homes owned by persons 
  1.4             with developmental disabilities; appropriating money; 
  1.5             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.6             chapter 252. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [252.285] [CONSUMER-OWNED HOUSING DEMONSTRATION 
  1.9   PROJECTS.] 
  1.10     The commissioner of human services may develop projects to 
  1.11  facilitate the provision of residential services in homes owned 
  1.12  by persons with developmental disabilities.  The commissioner 
  1.13  shall work with the department of administration and the 
  1.14  Minnesota housing finance agency in establishing the projects.  
  1.15  The commissioner shall give preference to projects which: 
  1.16     (1) provide a stable home-like environment for resident 
  1.17  owners of the property; and 
  1.18     (2) demonstrate ways to more effectively use funds 
  1.19  available to serve persons with developmental disabilities, 
  1.20  including, if necessary, modifications to existing Minnesota 
  1.21  statutes and rules. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.23     $....... is appropriated from the general fund for the 
  1.24  biennium ending June 30, 1997, to the commissioner of 
  1.25  administration for technical assistance from consultants 
  1.26  experienced in consumer-owned housing models for the purposes of 
  2.1   section 1.
