  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; appropriating money for 
  1.3             regional training sites for HIV/STI education in 
  1.4             schools. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; REGIONAL TRAINING SITES FOR 
  1.7   HIV/STI EDUCATION.] 
  1.8      $350,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2003 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning for regional training sites for HIV/STI education in 
  1.11  schools established under Laws 1997, First Special Session 
  1.12  chapter 4, article 6, section 18.  This appropriation shall be 
  1.13  added to the agency's base budget.  Of this amount, $300,000 
  1.14  must be used to support five regional sites that may or may not 
  1.15  include the existing sites; $25,000 to contract with a 
  1.16  community-based organization for coordination and technical 
  1.17  assistance for the sites; and $25,000 for the department of 
  1.18  children, families, and learning contract management services.  
  1.19  This appropriation is available until June 30, 2005. 
  1.20     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.21  following final enactment.
