  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; appropriating money for 
  1.3             a grant to a joint powers board for beaver damage 
  1.4             control. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of agriculture for a grant to the beaver damage 
  1.9   control joint powers board formed by the counties of Beltrami, 
  1.10  Clearwater, Marshall, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, Mahnomen, 
  1.11  Norman, Becker, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Roseau, 
  1.12  and Lake of the Woods for the purpose of beaver damage control.  
  1.13  The grant must be matched by at least $130,000 from the joint 
  1.14  powers board.  The joint powers board may enter into an 
  1.15  agreement with the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians for 
  1.16  participation by the band in the joint powers board's beaver 
  1.17  damage control program.  This appropriation is available until 
  1.18  June 30, 1997.
