1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to gambling; establishing a funding mechanism 1.3 to cover the costs of inspection; appropriating money; 1.4 amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 349.163, 1.5 subdivision 4. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 349.163, 1.8 subdivision 4, is amended to read: 1.9 Subd. 4. [INSPECTION OF MANUFACTURERS.] Employees of the 1.10 board and the division of gambling enforcement may inspect the 1.11 books, records, inventory, and business premises of a licensed 1.12 manufacturer without notice during the normal business hours of 1.13 the manufacturer. The board may charge a manufacturer for the 1.14 actual cost of conducting inspections of the manufacturer's 1.15 facilities, where (1) the board has provided the manufacturer 1.16 with reasonable notice of the inspections, and (2) the amount 1.17 charged to the manufacturer for such inspections in any year 1.18 does not exceed $7,500. The board shall deposit in a separate 1.19 account in the state treasury all money received as 1.20 reimbursement for the costs of inspections. Until July 1, 1999, 1.21 money in the account is appropriated to the board to pay the 1.22 costs of the inspections.
