E Requiring handguns sold, held for sale or imported into the state after a
certain date to comply with certain safety requirements; requiring a visible
serial number and a hidden serial number not susceptible to eradication;
requiring an external locking device effectively preventing the operation of the
handgun and after a certain date an internal locking system requiring operation
with a key or combination unique to the handgun; requiring a sample size of
handguns to pass a certain drop test; requiring a magazine safety disconnect or
a chamber load indicator for pistols with a mechanism to load cartridges via a
magazine; specifying an additional safety standard for revolvers; requiring
pistols to be equipped with a firing pin block or lock; specifying certain
materials standards for handguns, exempting makes or models passing a certain
repeated firing test; imposing an accidental firing standard; requiring
disclosure of the accuracy of short barrel handguns; specifying certain package
warning requirements relating to safe storage and handling; requiring the bureau
of criminal apprehension (BCA) to determine the makes and models of handguns and
locking devices complying with the handgun regulations; imposing a penalty for
violation of the requirements (mk, ja)
