A bill for an act
relating to transportation; prohibiting the commissioner of public safety from
determining insurance requirements for towing vehicles; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 168B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) For purposes of this section, "on-hook towing insurance" means liability insurance
for a vehicle or other conveyance while attached or connected to a tow truck.

new text begin (b) The commissioner of public safety or the Minnesota State Patrol must not adopt any
rule, regulation, order, or procedure that requires a towing service to carry a set amount of
on-hook towing insurance for towed vehicles valued at less than $400,000.
