A bill for an act
relating to building codes; requiring the commissioner of labor and industry to
establish a cost-per-square-foot valuation of residential buildings for purposes of
setting building permit fees; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 326B.153,
by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 326B.153, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The commissioner must establish a cost-per-square-foot valuation
of residential buildings for the purpose of setting building permit fees by municipalities.
Residential buildings include both new and additions to one- and two-family buildings,
townhouse buildings, and accessory buildings.
