A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for renovations at the American
Swedish Institute.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin AMERICAN SWEDISH INSTITUTE; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $8,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to the American Swedish Institute
to restore, renovate, and preserve the 1908 Turnblad Mansion, which is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, and upgrade the Nelson Cultural Center to improve visitors'
experiences on the American Swedish Institute's campus. This appropriation is onetime and
is available until the project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes,
section 16A.642.
