A bill for an act
relating to state government; appropriating money for Native American culture,
arts, and history programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATIONS; INDIAN AFFAIRS COUNCIL.

new text begin (a) $2,500,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $2,500,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated
from the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council for competitive grants
for Native American culture, arts, and history programs.

new text begin (b) $850,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $850,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from
the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council to provide grants to Minnesota
Tribal Nations to preserve the Dakota and Ojibwe Indian languages and to foster education
programs and services for Dakota and Ojibwe languages.

the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council for grants to Dakota and
Ojibwe language-immersion educational institutions.

the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council to provide grants to preserve
Dakota and Ojibwe languages through support and services dedicated to educational programs
and immersion efforts in Dakota and Ojibwe languages.

the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council for a Dakota and Ojibwe
Indian languages working group coordinated by the Indian Affairs Council.

new text begin (f) $150,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $150,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from
the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Indian Affairs Council for the Indian Affairs Council
to carry out the council's responsibilities under Minnesota Statutes, section 307.08, to comply
with Public Law 101-601, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
