A bill for an act
relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a grant to the Rural
Cancer Institute.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; RURAL CANCER INSTITUTE.

new text begin $300,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $300,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
for a grant to the Rural Cancer Institute for a pilot program to expand the clinical workforce
specific to oncology care in rural districts. This program must increase the number of cancer
care clinicians in rural districts and provide health care students with skills critical to the
challenges of providing cancer care in a rural setting using a community-based model. The
community-based model must grow the oncology clinical workforce in rural districts and
directly address the cancer care workforce shortage in rural districts. This is a onetime
appropriation.
