A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; exempting disabled veterans from watercraft fees;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 86B.415, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 86B.415, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin (a) The watercraft license fee for watercraft owned by a
veteran with a 100 percent service-connected disability is $0. A veteran with a 100 percent
service-connected disability must not be charged a fee to register a watercraft or to transfer
or duplicate a watercraft license and is not required to pay a watercraft surcharge or registrar's
fee under this section.

new text begin (b) For purposes of this subdivision, "veteran with a 100 percent service-connected
disability" means a veteran, as defined in section 197.447, who provides satisfactory evidence
to the commissioner of natural resources demonstrating that the veteran has a 100 percent
service-connected disability rating as adjudicated by the United States Department of
Veterans Affairs or the retirement board of one of the several branches of the armed forces.
