A bill for an act
 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a statewide education
campaign to inform employers about the benefits of second-chance hiring.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; SECOND-CHANCE HIRING EDUCATION
CAMPAIGN.

new text begin $200,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $200,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
for a statewide education campaign to inform employers about the benefits of second-chance
hiring, including incentives available under state and federal law for employing people with
a conviction record. This campaign must include creating an informational website and
staffing a hotline service. This is a onetime appropriation.
