A bill for an act
 relating to commerce; prohibiting nongratuity surcharges at restaurants; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325E.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) A restaurant is prohibited from charging a surcharge other than (1) a gratuity, as
defined in section 177.23, subdivision 9, or (2) taxes imposed by a government entity on
the sale or purchase of goods.
