BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (b) The grant recipient must use grant money to respond to the needs of children age
eight to 18 years old involved with truancy in Hennepin County. The grant recipient must
create culturally welcoming and nurturing spaces for interventions to stop truancy by
addressing the needs of African American youth who are involved in truancy and the child
protection system. Eligible uses of grant money for truancy crisis response include
establishing mentoring relationships, re-engaging a child with their birth family or other
relatives, preparing and assisting youth in finding meaningful work opportunities, and
providing life skills training in trauma-informed practices and de-escalation skills.
