A bill for an act
relating to transportation; modifying requirements of photographs on drivers'
licenses and identification cards for certain individuals with a medical covering;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.071, subdivision 2.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.071, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Certain head wear permitted.

If an accident involving a head injury, serious
illness, or treatment of the illness has resulted in hair loss new text begin or the need to maintain continuous
coverage of the head or scalp
new text end by an applicant for a driver's license or identification card,
the commissioner deleted text begin shalldeleted text end new text begin mustnew text end permit the applicant to wear a hat or similar head wear new text begin or a
medically required covering
new text end in the photograph or electronically produced imagenew text begin and must
not require the removal of the medically required covering for the photograph or
electronically produced image

of an appropriate size and type to allow identification of the holder of the license or card
and must not obscure the holder's face.
