A bill for an act
 relating to energy; exempting sales to cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence
data centers from certain energy savings goals; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024,
section 216B.2402, subdivision 3a.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 216B.2402, subdivision 3a, is amended to
read:


Subd. 3a.

Data mining facility.

"Data mining facility" means all buildings, structures,
equipment, and installations at a single site where electricity is used primarily by computers
to process transactions involving digital currency that is not issued by a central authoritynew text begin ,
including cryptocurrency and artificial intelligencenew text end .
