A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring public high schools to participate in the direct
admissions program unless granted an exemption; appropriating money; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 120B.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Starting in the 2029-2030 school year, a district or charter school high school must
participate in the direct admissions program under section 136A.84 unless the school board
has adopted a written resolution exempting one or more high schools from participating in
the program.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $253,000 in fiscal year 2027 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of the Office of Higher Education for the direct admissions program under Minnesota
Statutes, section 136A.84.
