A bill for an act
 relating to public safety; prohibiting impersonating a military service member,
veteran, or public official for political gain; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024,
section 609.475.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.475, is amended to read:


609.475 IMPERSONATING A MILITARY SERVICE MEMBER, VETERAN,
OR PUBLIC OFFICIAL.

Whoever falsely impersonates an active or reserve component military service member,
veteran, or public official with intent to wrongfully obtain money, property, or any other
tangible benefit new text begin or for political gain new text end is guilty of a misdemeanor.
