relating to state government; requiring a study of the economic impact of tariffs
on Minnesotans; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TARIFF IMPACT STUDY; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
management and budget to study the economic impact of tariffs on Minnesota households
and businesses. The study must (1) examine tariffs imposed by the United States of America
and any retaliatory tariffs imposed by other countries, and (2) quantify economic impacts
for households by income level and for businesses by sector and size. No later than February
1, 2026, the commissioner must submit the report to the chairs and ranking minority members
of the Committee on Ways and Means in the house of representatives and the Committee
on Finance in the senate.
