A bill for an act
relating to veterans; requiring a report; appropriating money for a grant to the
United Heroes League.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of veterans affairs to provide a grant to the United Heroes League, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization. The grant recipient must use the grant money to make capital improvements
to the organization's campus in Hastings, Minnesota, that will directly benefit current service
members, veterans, and their dependents. By January 15, 2027, the commissioner of veterans
affairs must report to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees
with jurisdiction over veterans regarding the uses of grant money, including any amount
used for grant administration. The report must be filed with the Legislative Reference Library
in compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 3.195. As a condition of receiving the grant,
United Heroes League must agree to provide the commissioner of veterans affairs any
information needed to complete the report.
