A bill for an act
relating to motor vehicles; authorizing the use of digital documents for applying
for a driver's license or identification card; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020,
section 171.06, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 171.06, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The commissioner must accept a digital or
electronic version of a document required to obtain a driver's license or identification card
if the document includes the required information and the commissioner is able to verify
the document's authenticity.
