A bill for an act
relating to public safety; requiring peace officers to be residents of Minnesota or
a surrounding state; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 626.843, by adding
a subdivision.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 626.843, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

A person licensed as a peace officer or eligible to be licensed must
be a resident of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, or South Dakota.
