A bill for an act
relating to public safety; prohibiting courts from accepting a lower amount of cash
bail in lieu of the full amount for certain DWI-related charges; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2018, section 629.471, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 629.471, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin When a court is required to
impose maximum bail under subdivision 2 for a person charged with a violation of section
169A.20, the court must require that the full amount be submitted and may not accept a
lower amount of cash bail.
