A bill for an act
relating to local government; authorizing statutory cities to set candidate filing fees
by ordinance; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 205.13, subdivision 3.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1.
Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 205.13, subdivision 3, is amended to read:
Subd. 3.
Filing fees.
Unless deleted text begin thedeleted text end new text begin a new text end charter new text begin provision or ordinance new text end of a new text begin home rule
charter or statutory new text end city provides the amount of the fee for filing an application or affidavit
of candidacy for city office, the filing fee for a municipal office is as follows:
(a) in first class cities, $20;
(b) in second and third class cities, $5; and
(c) in fourth class cities and towns, $2.
