A bill for an act
relating to human services; releasing a medical assistance lien on property in
St. Louis County.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RELEASE OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE LIEN.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 514.981, the commissioner of human
services shall release and discharge the medical assistance lien in full, pursuant to
Minnesota Statutes, section 514.981, subdivision 5, for any person who:

new text begin (1) purchased a home in St. Louis County that was subject to a medical assistance
lien;
new text end

new text begin (2) hired Scenic Title and Abstract, Inc. in Duluth to handle the closing on the home;
new text end

new text begin (3) satisfied the purchase price of the home by securing a mortgage; and
new text end

new text begin (4) obtained a warranty deed for the home that was signed and notarized on
December 3, 2007, and recorded in St. Louis County on December 28, 2007.
