A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for the agricultural growth, research,
and innovation program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; AGRI PROGRAM.

new text begin $....... in fiscal year 2012 and $....... in fiscal year 2013 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of agriculture for the agricultural growth, research, and
innovation program in Minnesota Statutes, section 41A.12. Priority must be given to
livestock programs under Minnesota Statutes, section 17.118. Priority for livestock grants
must be given to persons who are beginning livestock producers and livestock producers
who are rebuilding after a disaster that was due to natural or other unintended conditions.
The commissioner may use up to 4.5 percent of this appropriation for costs incurred to
administer the program. Any unencumbered balance does not cancel at the end of the first
year and is available in the second year.
