A bill for an act
relating to commerce; prohibiting a seller of goods or services from accepting
a financial transaction card in payment unless photo identification is produced;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325G.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) A seller of goods or services may not accept a financial transaction card for
payment in a face-to-face transaction unless the purchaser produces a photo identification
that matches the name on the financial transaction card.

new text begin (b) For purposes of this section, "financial transaction card" has the meaning given
in section 325G.02, subdivision 2, and "photo identification" means those forms of
identification referenced in section 340A.503, subdivision 6, paragraph (a).
